Kali -> Macbook Air Mid 2012

Abbreviated intro: Moved to a new place, decided I wanted a dedicated dual boot Mac for:

  1. guests can use MacOS (defaults to MacOS)
  2. some web app testing on Kali (only accessible via Option key)

Quick tips for installation…

Kali install can be before or after refind. Not a huge deal!

I was getting .3 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up when I logged in the first time. Updating was a beast. I needed the broadcom WL drivers, as stated in this thread of the kali forum. A quick rundown of my steps…

# apt-get update && apt-get install linux-image-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,') linux-headers-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,') broadcom-sta-dkms
# ifconfig wlan0 down
# modprobe -r b44 b43 b43legacy ssb brcmsmac bcma
# modprobe wl

I’m not sure the ifconfig is necessary above, but when messing with wireless drivers it’s worth checking.

That’s all I have right now, Hope it works for you!
